friday night i made a plan with the helpers (sue, kate, and june) i teach to go to the movies to see million dollar baby. natalie came along to see the film, and the other teacher matt came along just for dinner before the movie. it was really nice of the helpers to wait for us, because they finish work at 4:30p and we don't finish until 6:30p.
so we met them at ê³ ì†?터미ë„? (express bus terminal) where they have a huge shopping area and movie theater. we ate some yummy ë¶ˆê³ ê¸° (bulgogi) that was really cheap, too, only â‚©6,000 each. by then it was time for the movie.
i really enjoyed the film. clint eastwood is great as both an actor and a director. i really like the style of the films he's made. they're all somewhat quiet and slow, with an emphasis on relationships more than anything else. with capable, talented actors delivering powerful performances, i think it's a formula for success. definitely deserved all of the accolades it has received. of course all the girls were crying their eyes out by the end. june had already seen it, but i told him to not read the subtitles and practice listening to english the second time.
after the movie sue bought us all ice cream from 맥ë?„ë‚ ë“œ (mcdonald's), which incredibly cost only â‚©1,500 for five ice creams! after than natalie met up with nikki but as the rest of us tried to catch the subway home, sue and kate made it in but june and i had the doors close on us. so we said goodbye from behind the glass and they were off. it turned out they were nice enough to get out at the next stop and wait for us on the next train.
