i had to wait for the official okay to announce this, but a few weeks ago i heard that my sister is having a baby! obviously i'm very happy for her and her husband, joe, and i'm looking forward to being an uncle! the due date is late october, so i should get to see my new niece or nephew over the holidays.

my parents are also excited to be grandparents, they've been waiting a long time for this. they've had tons of practice spoiling our cousins for more than fifteen years, so i'm sure they're up to the task.

i'm sad i won't get to see my sister while she's pregnant or right after she has the baby, but i guess i'll get to see pictures. unfortunately she's going to have to deal with being pregnant during the summer, which i doubt will be much fun. whatever struggles there are will pale in comparison to the joy of having a new family member, i'm sure. of course that's easy for me to say, i don't have to have the kid…
