i didn't have any plans for today, so rather than sit around the house all day, i went to what's becoming on of my favorite places in seoul, ë³´ë?¼ë§¤ê³µì›? (boramae park). it was another really nice day, a little bit of wind but still warm. it takes me about forty-five minutes to get there, i have to walk down to gangnam station, then ride the subway about eight stops west to ì‹ ëŒ€ë°© (shindaebang). from there it's about a ten minute walk to the park.
as large as the park is, today i found another whole section i didn't even know existed before. there's a lake and some monuments and statues surrounding it. i walked once around the entire park, stopping to listen to the group playing traditional drums i'd seen there before. i stood and listened to them for about forty-five minutes, they were having such a great time it was really fun to watch.
finally i settled on a hill and sat studying my korean book for about an hour and a half. at one point a couple of guys in their early twenties came up to me, i thought they were going to try to make friends with me. but then one of them asked me if i knew jesus christ. i didn't want to get into a whole big thing about it with them so i just told them about how i was raised catholic and that seemed to be enough for them. the gave me a jesus love you and thankfully they were on their way.
