at our school, whichever class you teach right before lunch is the class you have to eat lunch with. i actually have that period off, so i eat with the other teachers who don't have a class to eat with in the kitchen. since i've been here (a little over five months now) the school has gone through two kitchen 아주마 (ajummas) and are on their third. the last one we had was all smiles and seemed really nice. the new one isn't as demonstratively friendly, but her food is the best we've had so far.
from what the other korean teachers tell me, she really likes me because i am a good eater. i guess while there's nothing a good eater like me appreciates more than a good cook, it can also work the other way around. i think she's impressed that not only do i always finish everything she gives me, but i can also eat spicy food really well.
today she made curry for the students and the other teachers, but for me she made a special 비빔밤 (bibimbap ~ rice and vegetables mixed together with a spicy sauce). it was really good! 잘 먹었습니다! (i ate very well!)
