disneyland
mon 3.13.06 ~ 6:01a ~ seoul, korea prev ~ next

i stayed my last couple of days in america with david and kathy. the combination of february 20th being president's day and david working for disney thus having a silver pass joined forces to form what i like to call free trip to disneyland. these days it's like $50 to get in so we had the luxury of not feeling like we had to get our money's worth and just enjoyed ourselves.

we started off at california adventure

we only really rode on soarin' over california, which was actually really cool. after that we headed over to disneyland for the rest of the day.

the very quaint (and crowded) main street

i like most about disneyland better than disney world, but one thing that just doesn't compare is that castle. sleeping beauty's pad is nothing compared to cinderella's, no contest. this was my first time at disneyland since the inception of the fast pass, a concept which david and kathy had to explain to me. it's kind of a neat idea, you basically can walk right up to a ride and make an appointment for when you'll come back and ride it, usually a few hours later. well, you don't really make an appointment, you just print out a card and it tells you when to come back. anyway, you can only have one going, so you have to choose which ride you'll use it for. and you have to use your entrance ticket so there's no scamming the system. anyways, once you come back at the designated time you can pass by most of the line and usually end up waiting about 10-15 minutes and then getting right on.

we decided to fast pass indiana jones and headed over to adventureland.

couldn't miss pirates of the caribbean

of course if you know me you'll be aware of the fact that i am not a lover of rides. to be clear, i'm a total scardy-cat. well, i think the only difference between me and someone who loves roller coasters is that they enjoy the feeling your body gets when it's zooming along on a ride and i don't enjoy that feeling. i find it quite unsettling. what's more unsettling is the fact that usually people want to encourage me to face my fears and all that nonsense when i'm really quite happy with my situation and got over it a long time ago. so the part on pirates of the caribbean when you go down that little slope is something i actually have to cringe at and put up with just so i can see animatronics auctioning off wenches and those really cool blanket fires they've got in there. it was lucky that kathy isn't much for rides either and david didn't seem to mind so i wasn't bringing anyone down with my ride limits. and no anna, i didn't ride the matterhorn, sorry.

oh, i couldn't leave this out

on our way home we stopped off at whole foods and i got this spicy crab sushi for dinner. the thing is, everything at whole foods is really healthy, natural, etc. so instead ofimmitation crab meat, they used real crab in this. wow, it was really good!
