from lisa's apartment, the bridesmaids and groomsmen joined charles and lisa in the limo for the ride to lisa's parents' house for a traditional tea ceremony.
unfortunately lisa spent most of the short limo ride on the phone giving directions.
i got a kick out of meeting adrian. more than anything i was constantly impressed by how good his english is. well, he's born and raised in the states so it's no wonder, but i'm so used to spending time with kids his age who can't express themselves as precisely as he can. he was great for posing such important questions as if you could have one super power, what would it be? at first he said his would be to be able to sit on clouds, but later after much introspective pondering he changed it to being able to stink up the entire earth with one fart. yes, that would come in handy as a super power, i suppose.
charles' grandmother was really honored to be a part of the tradition.
if you look closely you can see lisa's oldest nephew jarrod playing gameboy behind the door in the background. next everyone posed for some pictures.
from left that's rebecca, rachel, kayee the maid of honor, sandy, lisa, charles, little adrian, mike the best man, han, kevin, and myself.
rebecca is lisa's friend from college who told us lots of great stories about her four years teaching english in taiwan while becoming fluent in chinese. rachel is lisa's friend from medical school, which they graduated from just days before the wedding. kayee has been friends with lisa since grade school, i think. sandy is lisa's younger sister who i had the honor of escorting up the aisle during the wedding ceremony. mike was charles' ymca big brother back when charles was like eight years old. han is lisa's friend from high school who now lives relatively close to them in san jose so they still get to hang out from time to time. and kevin and i are charles' friends from calarts.
after that the bride and groom went out to lunch with charles' dad, while the rest of the wedding party made their way back to the beach house to set things up for the ceremony. won't you join me on the next post to read about that? thanks...
