on sunday, january 28th i was invited to an art exhibit featuring my friend 백�나 (heena baek). we went to calarts at the same time, and later worked together for a while at july films. heena's artwork has always been amazing, and in the past few years she has put out a couple of successful children's books in korea. i probably hadn't seen her for more than three years, so it was nice to meet again.

it was great seeing heena and her husband for the first time in quite a while. i also got to meet their daughter, who is about four years old now. heena's parents were also there, and since then i've discovered and been hooked on heena's father's blog. it's all in korean, but he has lots of cool pictures, including many cute pictures of heena's daughter, and even some sketches that provide insight into where some of heena's talent may have come from.
it was a lot of fun seeing heena again and hearing about what she's working on nowadays. too bad i had to come back to america soon after that and we didn't get a chance to meet again. hopefully we'll meet next time i visit korea, but in the meantime i'll be eagerly awaiting whatever interesting future projects she comes out with.
