after the graduation on the evening of wednesday, february 14th we had 회 (hoe shik), a dinner with all the teachers in the school. we went to a restaurant near our school in 아현 (bukahyeondong) called 大家 (대기, dae ga). we ate some delicious 지갈비 (doeji kalbi, barbecued pork) and of course drank lots of beer and soju.

what celebratory korean barbecue meal would be complete without soju?

this 김치전 (kimchi jeon, a kind of kimchi pancake) was service, meaning compliments of the house

after the meal we moved on to the second place as korean parties always do. more often than not that second place is 노래방 (noraebang, korean karaoke), and this party was no different. we sung some songs and had a grand time. some of the teachers had too much to drink at dinner and were really funny at the noraebang. even the principal tossed his stoic disposition to the side, totally loosened up and had a great time. my korean english teaching partner ally also sung a really nice korean song to me whose basic message was don't go!.

after the noraebang it was time to move onto the third place of the night (3ì°¨, sam cha), which was a traditionally themed bar, perhaps of a japanese style but i'm not sure about that. by this time the male korean teachers had stumbled off on their own at some point, and i found myself with the female teachers, including the korean english teachers ally and hojung.

i liked the décor in this place, especially that oddly-proportioned vase

we also tried this, stir-fried octopus and noodles
